Dear Diary,
The concept of futility of life is strange. I don’t even know if my life is in my own control. I mean, sure, all those cheesy elementary and middle school assemblies say you have full control over your life and your choices, but I think otherwise. Do I really have jurisdiction over everyone’s human nature? Their choices always affect you, sometimes positively, sometimes negatively, whether you like it or not. Even if you’re king of the world, your poorly-constructed castle could fall on your head or someone could poison the wine in your solid gold goblet. Was that your choice? Most likely not.
It may be worth trying your whole life to “get noticed”, but who knows? There is such a small percentage of people who can manage that, and even that isn’t in their control. Helpful attempts at, say, saving a child from a burning building will nine times out of ten be futile. Even if you do happen to make it out of the building, chances are the house explodes or you leave something valuable in there. It’s just the way life works, and I have no business trying to flip an unfair coin.
