Dear Diary,
As people, one of the things we long for most is love, affection. This can be found in many places—from a family member, a romantic lover, even with nonliving materialistic objects. But to me, one of the tightest bonds of love is found in a friendship. When around my friends, I am the happiest person in the world. They build me up, they make me laugh, make me feel like there’s nothing wrong in the world. Along with this great love you feel with a friend comes the greatest heartache when you lose one.
There was a time in my life when I became very close with someone. A friendship greater than any I’d ever had before. And then I made a mistake, and things were never the same. I think what happens sometimes is you forget how much the person means to you. You may take advantage of the friendship and throw it around a little too much, forgetting what a fragile thing it is and how easily it might break. I wish I could take back what I did, I would give anything in the world. But there’s certain things you just have to live with I suppose, and that’s okay. I learn from my mistakes and I continue to grow. As for my lost friend, I hope you’re doing well. Please know that I miss you and I’m sorry. Take care of your friends and hold them close. You never know what you have until it’s gone.
