Dear Diary,
When I was in kindergarten, on the first day I made a best friend. She and I were super close and inseparable for many years and then we made it to middle school. She started doing sports and we ended up hanging out with different crowds. We tried to stay close through middle school but by freshman year, she had new friends and we didn't see each other as much. Now, we don't even see each other once a week. I would be lucky to see her and talk to her for two minutes every month. I always loved hanging out with her and I really thought our friendship would last forever. Every time I run into her I say hi but it's not the same. This makes me realize that in life friends come and go and it takes two people to have a friendship. Both people need to work in order to keep a friendship and it's not one sided.
Over these past two years in high school I have made many new friends and sadly lost some too. I regret not working hard enough to keep my friends since elementary school but I guess it goes both ways. When I imagine my life in ten years, I greatly hope that I will at least have some friends and that I won't lose anymore to differences in activities or to different views on anything.
